The Hausa film industry, popularly known as Kannywood, has been thrown into mourning following the death of veteran actress Malama Wasila Ismail, who passed away on Sunday, May 24, at the age of 46 after a prolonged illness.

Death Confirmed by Former Husband
The news of her passing was confirmed by her former husband, Al-Amin Chiroma, who announced it on social media.
He disclosed that the actress died at the Federation of Muslim Women Associations of Nigeria (FOMWAN) Hospital in Kaduna, where she had been receiving medical treatment.
He wrote:
“Innalillahi Wainna Ilaihirrajiun. Wasila Isma’il is dead. She died at the Federation of Muslim Women Associations of Nigeria Hospital, Kaduna.”
Emotional Tribute and Prayers
In another post shared on Instagram, Al-Amin Chiroma prayed for her soul and asked Allah to grant her forgiveness and mercy.
He wrote:
“To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return. Allah has taken the death of Malama Wasila Ismail. May Allah forgive her and grant us a peaceful ending. Amen.”

Wasila Ismail was born in Kaduna in northern Nigeria and began her acting career in 1998 with the film Jinin Masoya.
