Veteran Nollywood actor Zubby Michael has sparked reactions online after responding harshly to a fan who criticized him for not attending the recent Service of Songs held in memory of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo.
The memorial and Service of Songs ceremony took place on Friday, June 11, 2026, drawing the attendance of several celebrities, colleagues, friends, and family members of Alexx Ekubo, who gathered to pay their respects to the late actor.
The event was held at the Monarch Event Centre in Lekki. As previously reported, numerous celebrities dressed in white attire attended the ceremony, offering tributes and honoring Alexx Ekubo’s memory.
It is no longer news that the Nigerian movie star passed away a little over a month ago following complications related to kidney cancer.
However, one of the major talking points following the event was Zubby Michael’s blunt response to a fan who questioned his absence from the Service of Songs organized for his late colleague.
The fan wrote in the comment section:
“You no go for Alexx service yesterday. Nawa for you ooo… Ur meant to be there.”
Zubby Michael replied:
“Thunder fire you”
