Fresh controversy has erupted online as Faridah Bello Matawalle and her husband, Sahabi Liman, trend over allegations of infidelity just weeks after their widely publicised wedding.
Faridah, daughter of Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence and former Zamfara State governor, Bello Matawalle, got married to Liman on February 6, 2026, in a ceremony held at the Central Mosque in Abuja.
The event, hosted by her father, attracted several high-profile personalities from across the country.
The situation took a dramatic turn after reports surfaced accusing Liman of cheating.
The claims were fueled by a woman identified as Mariam, who allegedly shared a video from a restroom online, hinting at an intimate relationship with the newly married man.
According to circulating reports, Mariam is said to have had prior ties with Liman and was also known to Faridah.
Some accounts further allege that she previously dated Liman and maintained a close connection with the couple.
The controversy deepened after claims emerged that Faridah reportedly discovered suggestive content on her husband’s phone, indicating an ongoing affair between him and Mariam.
The alleged evidence reportedly pointed to encounters that took place within Faridah’s matrimonial home (precisely in the restroom).
Reacting to the situation, an X influencer, @Nimisioluwa, wrote:
“A certain Sababi Liman, who got married to Farida Bello Matawalle, was caught cheating on his newly wedded wife after his side chick, Mariam, posted it on her Snapchat account.
It was said that he married Farida because her father is a billionaire, a former governor, and a minister, not because he’s in love with her.”
Unverified claims also suggest Mariam was one of Faridah’s bridesmaids and remained involved in Liman’s life whenever Faridah travelled.
