Raheem Okoya, one of the sons of billionaire businessman Razaq Okoya, has come under heavy criticism online following his appearance during Eid al-Adha prayers at the family’s Oluwanisola residence in Lagos.
What was meant to be a private family gathering for the Muslim celebration soon gained attention on social media after videos and photos from the event surfaced online.
However, rather than focus on the Eid festivities, many internet users directed attention to Raheem Okoya’s posture during the congregational prayer, especially while prostrating.
Several social media users questioned whether his posture during the prayer was appropriate, with the moment quickly sparking debates across different platforms.
The backlash comes shortly after Raheem reopened a bowling centre in Lagos, an event that also generated reactions online.
Meanwhile, the young businessman and musician recently addressed questions surrounding his wealth and lifestyle during an interview with BBC Yoruba.
Speaking during the interview, Raheem explained that he earns his own income and currently receives a salary. According to him, people invest in and support his music career, which also contributes to his earnings.
The 22-year-old further disclosed that he works as an executive at Eleganza, the business empire founded by his father, Razaq Okoya. His revelation, however, stirred more reactions, as some Nigerians argued that he was too young to occupy such a major position within the company.
Responding to such views, Raheem maintained that the role comes with serious responsibilities and is not merely ceremonial.
The video from the Eid prayer gathering has continued to attract mixed reactions online.
