Nigerian comedian and content creator Nasboi has been slammed after posting a video online that was later described by a presidential aide as misleading and inaccurately framed.
Dada Olusegun, Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, reacted to the post on Tuesday via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, saying the clip did not originate from Nigeria.
According to him, the video had already been traced to a foreign source, which identified the armed individuals in the footage as terrorists operating in the Republic of Benin, not Nigeria.
He stressed that it was wrongly presented in a way that could mislead viewers into thinking it reflected Nigeria’s security situation.
Olusegun added that although Nigeria is facing security challenges, the spread of unverified or misrepresented content can increase public fear and confusion.
He also criticized Nasboi for what he described as irresponsible use of his large online audience, stating:
“You cannot continue to intentionally use your page to spread fear @iamnasboi for whatever reason you might think you have.”
The video, which was shared by Nasboi with a caption referencing the President, quickly went viral and sparked reactions across social media.
The footage reportedly shows armed men on motorcycles attacking a rural area, which many initially believed was recorded in Nigeria before it was clarified otherwise.

The video you posted was clearly quoted from a page that says these are Beninese terrorists. This means the footage is from Benin Republic and has nothing… https://t.co/xuEhwT6wCH
