An X user identified as @BOtunuga has referenced the recent death of NURTW Organizing Secretary Toba Ijaya to send a strong message to thugs working for Nigerian politicians.
On July 14, 2026, tragedy struck as Toba Ajiboye, popularly known as Toba Ijaya, was confirmed dead after sustaining severe injuries in an attack by unknown gunmen.
According to reports, the NURTW official was ambushed while returning from his childhood neighbourhood in Fadeyi. The vehicle conveying him and other passengers was reportedly riddled with bullets fired by the attackers.
He was said to have been alive and conscious when he was taken from the scene to a hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he could not survive the severity of the gunshot injuries he sustained in the attack.
Following his tragic death, several netizens claimed that Toba Ijaya had a troubled past, alleging that he was involved in several fights and attacks that reportedly claimed the lives of innocent people.
Some also alleged that he was used by political figures in the country to carry out attacks against their opponents and engage in other criminal activities.
Reacting to the development, @BOtunga on the X platform said Toba Ijaya’s death should serve as a lesson to those involved in thuggery and criminal activities on behalf of politicians in exchange for financial rewards.
According to him, anyone who lives by the sword will eventually die by the same sword.
He wrote: “Toba ljaya”s death is a lesson for whosoever is concerned including agberos who relish doing dat dirty job for politicians after getting paid handsomely to take out rivals, whoever lives by d sword🗡️equally dies by same sword🗡️there are no two ways about it…”
