A Nigerian man identified as Leonard IB Marcus has gone public after accusing a loan app of persistently contacting him to repay a loan he reportedly took months earlier.
He shared a screenshot of his loan app dashboard, which indicated a repayment demand of N34,250.
Further details visible at the bottom of the screenshot showed that his loan repayment had been overdue for 202 days, with the total amount reportedly standing at N61,250.
Man challenges loan app
In a Facebook post dated June 16, Leonard recounted that he had previously appealed to the loan platform in November 2025, requesting to repay his loan in line with official CBN guidelines.
According to him, the company declined the request and allegedly insisted on a 2% daily interest rate instead of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s stipulated 1% monthly cap.
He further claimed that representatives of the loan app addressed him in a rude manner during their interactions.
Leonard stated that he has since refused to make any repayment under what he described as unlawful terms and openly challenged the company to take legal action against him.
Leonard’s Facebook post read: “Dear Okash loan. “I vividly remember pleading with you last November to let me pay using official CBN guidelines….. which you refused and illegally demanded 2% daily interest instead of the CBN-mandated 1% monthly cap.
“Your agents then spoke to me rudely. “Sending me messages now to beg for the capital will not work.
“You can call me until the end of time, but I am not paying a single Kobo under your illegal terms. “I will be waiting for you at the court . I will not be bent by predatory lenders who violate CBN rules.
