A Nigerian woman has disclosed the identity of the individual who reportedly collected the remains of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo from the mortuary ahead of his final burial rites.
The Nigerian film industry and countless admirers were left devastated following the death of Alexx Ekubo on May 11, 2026. The actor passed away after battling metastatic kidney cancer.
As part of the activities organised to honour his memory, a service of songs took place in Lagos on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. Preparations have since continued for his wake-keeping and burial ceremonies scheduled for June 17 and 18.
Lady reveals who retrieved Alexx Ekubo’s body
A Facebook user identified as Joy Chinwenmeri Onwubuariri shared details about what she allegedly discovered regarding the late actor’s mortuary records. According to her, she came across Alexx Ekubo’s Corpse Release Form from the Lagos mortuary where his body had been kept.
In her post, she claimed that the person listed as having received the actor’s remains and arranged their transportation from Lagos to his hometown in Arochukwu for burial was his longtime friend and colleague, IK Ogbonna.
Her Facebook post read: “I saw the corpse release certificate of Alex. Guess whose name was written as collector , it’s Ik ogbonna, from Lagos to Arochukwu. That must have been so so hard ….. my God will console his family and friends.”
The revelation sparked emotional responses from social media users, many of whom reflected on the close bond between the two actors and expressed sympathy for those mourning the loss.

Surprisingly Alex and Jnr pope’s death touched the core of my heart, maybe cos they are too young, just same age with my elder brother, I see my brother in Alex and it hurts me so much as if I lost him too.”
