Human rights activist, Harrison Gwamnishu has provided new updates on the killing of Delta State singer Oghenemine Ogidi, whose death has sparked widespread outrage online.
Incident and viral video
Ogidi had trended after reports emerged that he was shot by a police officer, Usman Nuhu, in Delta State. Gwamnishu was the one who released the video of the incident, drawing attention from the public and several celebrities who reacted to the development.
A separate victim also came forward to share her alleged experience with the officer in 2025.
Claims of attempted cover-up
In a video posted on his Instagram page, Gwamnishu clarified that the incident occurred on Sunday, not Tuesday when the footage surfaced online.
He alleged that the authorities remained silent about the case and claimed he received multiple calls urging him to delete the video, suggesting an attempt to suppress the matter.
How the video was verified
The activist explained that he obtained the footage on Tuesday but took time to verify its authenticity to ensure it was not an old recording before making it public.
Allegations involving senior officer
Gwamnishu further alleged that the officer acted on instructions, claiming that individuals at the park contacted the Area Commander in Delta State, Aliyu Shaba. He called on the Inspector General of Police to also investigate the senior officer’s possible involvement.
Details of the shooting
According to the activist, the singer did not die immediately after the initial shooting. He claimed the victim was taken to a police station where he was shot again before eventually dying.
Gwamnishu added that he has not seen the body and remains uncertain about its whereabouts.
