The governing party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has released its final list of candidates who will represent the party in the 2027 Nigerian general election for seats in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The list, signed by APC Lagos State Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, revealed that 12 sitting lawmakers failed to secure return tickets.

Meanwhile, Desmond Elliot reportedly withdrew from the APC primary election for the Surulere I seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
He pulled out of the race on May 20, 2026, alleging that many of his supporters were prevented from participating in the voting process.
The actor-turned-politician made this known at the Paddington Mini Stadium along Western Avenue, where he claimed that repeated appeals to electoral officials regarding the issue were ignored.
He said:
“And of course, in all zones, they’ve been intimidating and stopping us. I want to officially announce my withdrawal from this particular race. This is my ward. If you go outside, those are my people outside.”
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced former aide to the Lagos State Governor, Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, as the winner of the Surulere Constituency I House of Assembly primary election.
The primary election, which took place across the six wards in Surulere, reportedly witnessed strong participation, with Odunuga-Bakare securing a commanding lead in all polling wards.
Reports also indicated that the exercise featured the presence of the incumbent lawmaker, Elliot.
Speaking after the conclusion of the exercise, the Local Government Area Returning Officer, Yussuf Kelani, officially declared Odunuga-Bakare as the party’s candidate for the constituency.
According to him, she amassed a total of 11,625 votes to emerge victorious in the APC primary.
