Nigerian actress Rosy Meurer has stirred fresh conversation online after making a subtle change to her social media profiles by dropping her husband’s surname.
The actress, whose profile previously displayed the name Rosalina Meurer Churchill, now uses the name Rosalina Meurer.
The adjustment has fueled renewed speculation surrounding her relationship with businessman Olakunle Churchill, as rumours about the status of their union continue to circulate.
Earlier reports revealed that Churchill rejected claims suggesting the couple had divorced, maintaining that there was never a legally recognised marriage between him and Meurer.
Addressing the speculation in a statement posted on Instagram, Churchill described the reports as “false” and called on members of the public to ignore them.
He wrote: “The reports circulating online about a supposed divorce between myself and Roseline Meurer are completely false. There is no truth to them, and they should be treated as such.
There was no legally recognised marriage. There was no church wedding and no court wedding. What took place was an introduction. Therefore, the idea of a ‘divorce’ is baseless from the outset.”
Churchill further challenged the claims that legal proceedings had taken place, stating that he had never been served with any court documents.
He also faulted what he described as “inaccurate legal claims” while expressing concerns over due process.
Meanwhile, Meurer’s decision to remove Churchill’s surname from her social media accounts has once again drawn public attention to their relationship, although neither of them has announced any developments beyond the statement previously issued by Churchill.
