Afrobeats star Davido has reacted to reports claiming that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke came under attack in Osogbo on Wednesday.
The reports circulated widely online, with some publications alleging that suspected hoodlums opened fire on the governor’s convoy while he was in the state capital.
The development generated concern on social media, particularly because of Governor Adeleke’s prominence and his close family relationship with Davido.
However, the singer moved to clarify the situation through a post on X, denying that the governor or his convoy had been attacked.
“Lies! It was a fight outside the palace that had nothing to do with us! The pple love excellency!” Davido wrote.

According to the Grammy-nominated singer, the gunfire was linked to a separate confrontation that occurred around the palace and had no connection with Adeleke or members of his entourage.
Davido’s message appeared aimed at reassuring members of the public that the governor was safe and that reports suggesting he had been targeted were inaccurate.
Reports of attack spread online
Earlier reports had described a tense incident in Osogbo involving gunshots around the palace where Governor Adeleke had been present.
Claims that the shots were directed at the governor’s convoy quickly gained traction across social media and various news platforms.
The reports generated widespread reactions before Davido publicly rejected the claim.
At the time of his response, no official statement from the Osun State Government had reportedly been issued regarding the incident.
Davido’s intervention subsequently shifted the conversation online, with many users relying on his account to distinguish the reported altercation from claims that the governor himself had been attacked.
The singer’s clarification also sought to dispel concerns surrounding Governor Adeleke’s safety following the incident.
