The lead pastor of Zoehousehold Global, Dolapo Lawal, has finally addressed his past controversial comments about Arsenal during a sermon in his church.
Recall that the Nigerian pastor had previously stated that Arsenal would not win the Premier League title this season, insisting that their performances were quite predictable.
He also jokingly warned women in his congregation against entertaining advances from Arsenal fans, referencing the club’s long-standing struggles and lack of recent success.
The comments, which were meant to come across as lighthearted banter, instead sparked widespread backlash online, with many critics accusing him of being insensitive.
Pastor Dolapo Lawal has now responded to the controversy in a post shared on Instagram, explaining that his remarks were simply playful banter directed at Arsenal fans and were never intended to be malicious.
He also revealed that he has received heavy criticism in his direct messages from several people over the issue.
Additionally, he noted that he has relatives who are Arsenal supporters, adding that he often jokes with them in the same harmless manner as part of their family banter.
