Violence reportedly disrupted the House of Representatives primaries organised by the All Progressives Congress in parts of Lagos State and Kaduna State, forcing party members and delegates to flee the venues for safety.
The incident in Lagos occurred before voting began for the APC House of Representatives primary in Mushin Constituency II on Saturday, May 16.
At the time of the report, it remained unclear whether the election would proceed, as tension reportedly persisted around the venue following the disruption.
According to reports from Daily Trust, chaos broke out after disagreements erupted among supporters of some aspirants contesting for the party’s ticket.
The disagreement later triggered panic and a stampede as delegates and party loyalists hurriedly left the scene.
Among the major contenders in the primary were Seye Oladejo and the incumbent lawmaker, Oluwatoyin Fayinka, who is seeking another term in office.
