Fresh information has emerged online regarding the reported death of Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo.
The shocking reports of his passing had earlier left fans and members of the entertainment industry devastated on Tuesday.
As speculation continued over the cause of his death, filmmaker and close associate Stanley Ontop shared details about what he described as the actor’s private health struggle.
In a viral Instagram post, Stanley Ontop alleged that Alexx had been battling stage 4 liver cancer since 2024. According to him, the actor quietly underwent treatment and also received a liver transplant in an effort to recover from the illness.
He explained that although the movie star managed to return to work briefly after the surgery, his condition reportedly worsened after the transplanted liver failed again.
“Alex was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer in 2024. After undergoing treatment and a liver transplant, he briefly returned to work. Unfortunately, the liver failed again and complications arose, and his condition deteriorated until his passing.”
Stanley also urged the public to avoid spreading unconfirmed stories surrounding the actor’s death.
He appealed to Nigerians to respect the privacy of Alexx Ekubo’s family as they mourn the painful loss.
