Nigerian vlogger, Tosin Silverdam, has reacted to the outcome of the just-concluded Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
It is no longer news that the award ceremony took place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos State, with several actors in attendance and some emerging as winners in different categories.
Nollywood icon, Funke Akindele, was considered by many of her supporters as a strong contender for the Best Supporting Actress category at the AMVCA, especially after her film project received six nominations.
Reacting to the outcome, Tosin Silverdam claimed that Funke Akindele was snubbed by the AMVCA, as she failed to win any of the categories she was nominated for.
According to him, some of the actress’s fans argued that the award ceremony was politically influenced, while also claiming that Funke Akindele has outgrown the AMVCA.
Reacting, some fans supported his opinion, arguing that even Toyin Abraham failed to win any category and that the nominations she received were not among the major ones.
They also suggested that Akindele should make room for emerging talents, claiming that the award organisers now appear more interested in recognising the younger generation.
Meanwhile, others maintained that AMVCA is not “anyone’s family affair,” as they congratulated Linda Ejiofor on winning the Best Supporting Actress award.
