The Nigerian Police Force and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have jointly uncovered a coordinated examination malpractice operation in Delta State during the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
According to the investigation, authorities revealed that illegal activities were detected at the College of Education examination centre in Warri, where attempts were allegedly made to compromise the integrity of the computer-based examination process.
Security operatives disclosed that unknown individuals remotely gained unauthorized access to candidates’ computers while the examination was in progress.
The police also confirmed the arrest of three suspects linked to the offence after carrying out digital forensic analysis and intelligence gathering related to the case.
The suspects are currently in the custody of the authorities and are reportedly assisting investigators in uncovering the full scope of the examination malpractice.
Police statement: “The operation followed intelligence-led investigations into attempts by criminal elements to compromise the integrity of the examination through technology-assisted fraud and unauthorized remote access to examination systems.”
JAMB has also announced the cancellation of results from the affected centres involved in the ongoing investigation.
According to the board, affected candidates will be rescheduled for a mop-up examination once the review process is concluded.
The examination body stressed that the decision was necessary to protect the credibility of the UTME process while ensuring fairness for candidates across the country.
