Veteran Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe, has recently come out to complain about losing 500,000 followers on Instagram following the app’s bot purge in 2026.
According to reports, Meta, the parent company of Instagram, recently carried out a major cleanup tagged the “Instagram Bot Purge of 2026,” during which bot followers, inactive accounts, spam profiles, and other suspicious accounts were removed from users’ follower counts.
Mercy Aigbe also appeared to have been affected by the exercise, as she took to her Instagram page on Friday, May 8, to express her frustration over the issue.
In her post, she revealed that 500,000 followers were removed from her Instagram account, which previously had 11.6 million followers but has now dropped to 11.1 million.
According to the actress, she had remained stuck at 11.6 million followers for over three years, only for the situation to worsen after the recent deduction carried out by Instagram.
She wrote: “From 11.6 to 11.1 million followers at this point Instagram I don’t understand again oh. Meanwhile I have kuku being stuck on that 11.6 for 3 years now. Now Una don commot 500 🥺😩.”
