Veteran entertainer, Charly Boy has revisited his controversial clash with former Imo State governor Rochas Okorocha, insisting that he has no regrets over the incident years later.
The confrontation, which occurred during the burial ceremony of Charly Boy’s father in 2014, remains one of the most memorable public moments involving the outspoken entertainer and the former Imo State governor.
Speaking during a recent interview, Charly Boy recounted how he forcefully collected the microphone from Okorocha while the politician was addressing guests at the funeral ceremony.
According to him, he believed the former governor was trying to turn the solemn event into a political gathering.
“Mmhmm. Is that a crime? I for don slap am. He wanted to use my father’s burial as a campaign for politics. And you don’t do that. Not when I’m around,” he said.
The entertainer explained that he reacted because he considered political speeches inappropriate for the occasion. He further revealed that after interrupting Okorocha, he asked the former governor to leave the venue despite his heavy security presence.
“And he knew he was in my territory. Even with all his bodyguards, na my territory him dey,” Charly Boy added.
