Nollywood filmmaker, Stanley Ontop has publicly criticized actress Luchy Donalds for what he described as excessive self-promotion following her recent online displays of generosity.
The saga began when Luchy Donalds shared posts showing that she had sent large sums of money: reportedly ₦6 million and ₦1 million to individuals who had once supported her during her early days in Nollywood.
Stanley Ontop expressed concern over the public nature of these gifts, arguing that the act of giving should be private and appreciated by the recipient, not publicly flaunted by the giver.
He pointed out that the producers Luchy gifted money to had once supported her career without seeking public acknowledgment.
In contrast, Luchy not only publicized her gifts but allegedly involved bloggers to amplify the gesture, a move Stanley viewed as unnecessary and self-serving.
According to Stanley, the recipients of her generosity are even more financially established than Luchy herself.
He accused the actress of clout chasing and criticized her for seeking validation through social media.
In a broader dig, he also threw shade at so-called “Asaba actresses” who, in his view, claim association with Lagos-based Nollywood elites while engaging in what he sees as less dignified practices.
Fuming, he wrote:
“The way Luchy nwanyi mac Donalds sends money to her helpers and post it online is alarming
Those producers you sent 6m and 1m helped when you were no body in Nollywood and they didn’t post it…. Buh here you are paying bloggers to post 1m and 6m you sent to people who are even richer than you.
I think say this Luchy na big girl? If you give person money allow the person to post in appropriation not you posting it and praising ur self. Mitcheeeeewwwew.”
