Residents of Eruku community in Kwara State are celebrating following confirmation that the victims abducted during the recent attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) have been successfully rescued.
The victims, who were taken during a violent invasion of the church earlier this month, were freed through coordinated efforts involving security agencies and government intervention.
News of their release sparked widespread relief across the community and social media, especially after several public figures, including actress Bukola Arugba, who hails from Eruku, had earlier called on authorities to act swiftly. Arugba had made an emotional public appeal claiming that some of those abducted were relatives, urging both state and federal agencies to intervene before the situation escalated.
Residents have now expressed gratitude to security operatives, the Kwara State Government, and the Federal Government for the rescue operation, while also calling for sustained security presence to prevent future attacks in the region.
The Eruku incident is one of several recent cases of mass abduction reported in Nigeria, intensifying calls for stronger security measures to protect communities, religious gatherings, and highways nationwide.
