Nollywood actress Lilian Esoro has publicly mourned the death of her father, describing his passing as one of the most painful experiences she has ever faced.
The actress took to Instagram on Sunday to announce the sad news while sharing a photograph of her late father alongside an emotional tribute.
Actress Announces Father’s Sudden Death
Esoro revealed that her father died suddenly a few weeks ago, adding that his death came during an already difficult period in her life as she had also been mourning the loss of a close friend.
Describing her father as an important figure in her life, the actress said he played a significant role in her Christian faith.
“A man who was an integral part of my life — the man who led me to Christ, my only living parent, my Dad — passed away suddenly,” she wrote.
Lilian Esoro Opens Up on Grief
The actress admitted that she had tried to keep herself occupied since her father’s death by throwing herself into work, social activities and event planning.
However, she acknowledged that staying busy had not taken away the pain of losing him.
Esoro explained that the grief had been difficult to predict, with some days bringing moments of happiness while others were suddenly overwhelmed by sadness.
“This kind of grief is different. It is heart-wrenching and almost impossible to explain. Some days, I am genuinely happy. Other days, a wave of sadness hits me so suddenly and so deeply that I almost don’t know what to do with it or how to react,” she wrote.
Actress Holds on to Her Faith
Despite the pain of losing her father, Esoro said her faith in God remained her source of strength.
She expressed her belief that God remains present even during the most difficult moments of life.
“It is well with my soul. God is still God! With him there is no controversy,” she added.
The actress also thanked her family and friends for their love, prayers and support since her father’s passing.
