Nigerian gospel singer Neon Adejo has found himself at the centre of a growing domestic controversy after his WhatsApp conversations with a model became public online.
The development is linked to a bitter dispute between photographer David Martins and his wife, Alicia, whose marriage has become embroiled in allegations of infidelity, abuse and neglect.
Leaked Messages Spark Reactions
As the couple exchanged accusations publicly, conversations involving Adejo and Alicia surfaced online, drawing attention from social media users.
In one of the leaked exchanges, Alicia appeared concerned about Adejo’s wife discovering their conversation after he asked her to send him a selfie.
“I don’t want your wife to be like, why is she sending a selfie.”
Adejo responded by assuring her that his wife would not see their messages while asking her to send the picture.
“Stop it, she won’t even see my chats. Send me a selfie, I want to see you🙈. Let’s give this to bloggers, what do you think? I just sent you #150,000, I don’t know what that would do for you. Something to add to what you have.”
Neon Adejo Explains His Actions
Following the controversy, Adejo offered an explanation for why he requested the selfie.
He claimed his intention was connected to assistance he had provided to Alicia’s wife through a friend’s company and said he simply wanted to see how she looked afterwards.
“The only reason I ever asked for a selfie was because, I had reached out to my friend’s company, whom I paid for to make your wife’s hair. I simply wanted to see how she looked afterwards. She was looking like who had been through a lot, and I reached out to my friend because I wanted to make sure she looked and felt like herself again.”
David Martins Denies Abuse Allegations
Meanwhile, David Martins has denied allegations that he abused his wife.
In a series of posts on Instagram, Martins accused Alicia of being abusive and shared what he described as evidence to support his claims.
He also accused her of infidelity and referenced the leaked conversations involving Neon Adejo. Martins further alleged that Alicia remained in contact with a former partner identified as Yemi.
He also accused Adejo of encouraging Alicia to take her allegations to bloggers and claimed the singer shared his photograph in a group chat and incited people against him.
Alicia Demands Justice
Alicia has since responded to her husband’s allegations, making it clear that her primary concern is obtaining justice for herself and her child.
She did not address every allegation in Martins’ lengthy statement but maintained that she wants accountability over what she claims to have experienced in the marriage.
The controversy continues to generate reactions online, with the leaked messages and conflicting accounts from the parties involved fueling further debate.
