Fresh details have surfaced regarding the final moments of veteran Nollywood actor Solomon Akiyesi, who reportedly died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 66.
Details shared by his daughter and conveyed by Yakub Abubakar, the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, revealed that the actor had experienced chest discomfort just hours before his passing.
What happened before his death
According to the account, Akiyesi began feeling unwell the night before and later informed his family.
He was taken to a hospital, where he was reportedly diagnosed with an ulcer and given medication. After treatment, he returned home to rest.
Sadly, in the early hours of the next morning, his wife attempted to wake him around 4am but discovered he was unresponsive.

Akiyesi, a native of Ososo in Edo State, enjoyed a long and impactful career in Nollywood, appearing in more than 100 films since the late 1990s. He earned respect for his versatility and dedication both in front of and behind the camera.
Reacting to his passing, actress Celestina Dovigalle paid an emotional tribute, describing him as a vibrant personality who brought energy and laughter to every set.
“Some people don’t just walk into a room—they light it up with laughter. Solomon Akiyesi was that kind of soul. Playful, full of life, and always ready to turn even the most serious set into a moment of joy,” she wrote.
She added: “Working with him meant more than just acting—it meant laughter between takes, lightness in heavy moments, and a presence that made everything feel easier. He had a way of reminding you not to take life too seriously.”
His death has sparked an outpouring of grief across the Nollywood community, with many remembering his legacy and contributions to the industry.
