Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has shared his reaction after the All Progressives Congress (APC) named Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, to lead its campaign for the upcoming Osun State governorship election.
The ruling party announced Uzodimma, who also serves as Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, as the Chairman of its National Campaign Council ahead of the governorship poll scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for August 15, 2026.
Reacting to the announcement, Davido suggested that despite his respect for the Imo governor, they would find themselves on opposing sides during the election campaign.
“Chai, and I like Hope o. My wife’s state. Hmmm. No worry, we go meet for field,” Davido said.

The singer’s response has attracted attention on social media, especially given his well-known involvement in Osun State politics and his support for his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke.
With the election date drawing closer, political parties have continued to step up their campaigns as they prepare for what is expected to be a closely fought contest in the state.
