On X, formerly known as Twitter, a Nigerian woman identified as @Biggdammy_ has raised a question following the death of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Lagos State Organising Secretary, Toba Ijaya.
It is no longer news that the respected NURTW official passed away on July 14, 2026, after succumbing to injuries he sustained in an assassination attempt by suspected gunmen.
According to multiple reports, Toba Ijaya was returning from his childhood neighbourhood in Fadeyi in a white vehicle when he was ambushed by unknown gunmen.
The assailants reportedly opened fire on the vehicle, leaving Toba Ijaya severely injured. He later succumbed to his injuries.
Amid the mourning that followed Toba Ijaya’s death, @Biggdammy_ raised questions about traditional fortifications, which are rumoured to be used by some individuals to neutralise the impact of gunshots.
According to her, he expected someone of Toba Ijaya’s status to possess some form of traditional fortification that could have helped him survive the assassination attempt.
She wrote: “I thought people like Toba Ijaya would have traditional bullet proof, such that they can’t die of gunshot at all.
Or they can always disappear when evil is close.
They don’t have this and they have all that confidence?”
She made the post alongside an emotional video showing several people mourning the tragic death of the NURTW chieftain.
