Former Big Brother Naija housemate and actress Alex Unusual has reacted to the viral video of the schoolchildren and teachers who recently regained their freedom after spending several weeks in captivity in Oyo State.
Taking to her social media page, the reality television personality expressed doubts about certain aspects of the footage, noting that some details surrounding the video did not add up in her view.
Instead of focusing solely on celebrating the victims’ return, Alex directed attention to the circumstances surrounding the first clip released after they were freed.
She questioned why the victims’ first public appearance appeared to centre on expressing appreciation to the President instead of receiving urgent care and support.
“Why is their first care a ‘Thank you Mr President’ video?” she asked.
Alex also raised concerns about the location where the recording appeared to have been made, observing that it looked like a forest.
According to her, the setting created even more uncertainty about how events unfolded before the victims regained their freedom.
She further questioned the official account of the rescue, asking why no suspected kidnappers were visible if the victims had indeed been rescued.
“And why are they still making the video inside the bush? If it was a rescue, where are the faces of the kidnappers?” she wrote.
Oyo schoolchildren regained freedom after 56 days
The rescued pupils and teachers from Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State eventually regained their freedom after spending almost two months in captivity.
Their release came as a huge relief to their families and many Nigerians who had been closely monitoring the troubling incident from the time it occurred.
Shortly after they were freed, videos showing the victims began circulating across social media platforms, prompting emotional reactions from many online users.

I have some questions as a concerned Nigerian. These Oyo state kidnap victims release,
1. Why is their first care a “Thank you Mr president” video and why are they still making the video inside the bush?
2. If it was a rescue, where are the faces of the kidnappers?— ALEX UNUSUAL (@alex_unusual) July 11, 2026
How netizens reacted to Alex Unusual’s post:
@FearGunn wrote: “The best way to find answers: Put the name of the forest on googlemap, take a ride to the place, take the pictures of the kidnappers and then post it so others like you can see their faces. As a truly concerned Nigerian with compassion, seeing the captives alive is enough. Thanks”
@OmogbolahanGanj stated: “Funny how some of you suddenly lose interest once there’s good news. When they were kidnapped, you were professional online sympathizers. Now they’re rescued, you’ve quickly switched to your next agenda. At least pretend to be happy they’re back. Drop the performance.”
