Nigerian businessman and socialite Pascal Okechukwu, widely recognised as Cubana Chief Priest, has expressed joy over the safe return of the schoolchildren and teachers who were abducted in Oyo State.
As earlier reported, the 39 pupils alongside several teachers from different schools in Oriire Local Government Areawere freed on Friday, July 10, 2026.
They had been kidnapped by terrorists on May 15, 2026, and spent more than 50 days in captivity before regaining their freedom.
Presidential media aide Bayo Onanuga broke the news on X, sharing photographs of the rescued victims.
Although one of the teachers lost his life while being held captive, the successful release of the remaining victims was greeted with widespread relief.
The development prompted emotional reactions across social media, as Nigerians from different backgrounds celebrated the news and expressed gratitude.
Joining the conversation on Instagram, Cubana Chief Priest shared his excitement over the development. The celebrity barman described the victims’ freedom as the most uplifting news of the week.
He wrote: “It’s gonna be such an amazing weekend. Thank God, this is the best news so far.”
