Marketers distributing Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), widely known as cooking gas, supplied by Dangote have lowered the depot price to N985 per kg.
This latest move has positioned the company as the most affordable supplier in Nigeria’s LPG depot market and further heating up competition among leading industry players.
The revised rate is N45 per kilogram below the prevailing average depot price of N1,030/kg charged by major marketers and N65/kg less than the highest quoted market price of N1,050/kg.
According to Petroleumprice.ng on Monday, July 6, NIPCO, 11 Plc, Ardova Plc, and Techno Oil are currently offering LPG at N1,030 per kilogram. Meanwhile, Navgas and Rainoil maintain the highest depot price in the market at N1,050/kg.
If the current decline in prices is sustained, consumers could soon see retail cooking gas prices fall back to approximately N1,000 per kilogram, easing the financial burden on households and commercial users after several months of persistently high LPG costs.
The recent reduction mirrors the competitive pricing witnessed in the petrol and diesel segments, where marketers have consistently adjusted prices downward in response to evolving market dynamics and heightened competition.
Industry analysts believe that continued price cuts at the depot level have the potential to make cooking gas more accessible to millions of Nigerians, given its growing importance as one of the country’s preferred clean energy sources for domestic and commercial cooking.
