The sorrow following the death of Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo continues to weigh heavily on his family.
His elder sister, Chioma Ekubo, has publicly shared her heartbreak as discussions and controversies surrounding the actor’s passing persist.
In an emotional message posted on social media during the early hours of Wednesday, July 1, 2026, Chioma expressed the depth of her grief, writing: “Nnamo, love and miss you dearly. You took a chunk of me with you. Please watch over me #blood4life.”
Her touching tribute shows the close relationship she had with her brother and highlights the profound sense of loss she continues to experience in the wake of his death.

Just days earlier, Chioma Ekubo had also taken to social media to mourn the loss of her younger brother, Alexx Ekubo, shortly after he was laid to rest.
It will be recalled that the actor died on May 11, 2026, at the age of 40 following a battle with stage 4 kidney cancer. His funeral took place last week in his hometown in Abia state.
Since then, attention has extended beyond the tributes after fresh claims made by a family relative raised concerns over events that allegedly unfolded behind the scenes
In a statement published on his Instagram page on Thursday, June 25, David Ekubo, who described himself as a cousin of the late actor, alleged that members of the Ekubo family were not adequately informed about key developments following Alexx’s death.
According to David, several relatives remain disturbed by what they believe are unresolved issues surrounding the circumstances of his passing.
“With grave pain, heaviness and sorrow, the family of Ikenna Alex Ekubo advises the public that the events leading up to his passing have been unclear,” the statement read.
David also alleged that the family was not promptly notified when Alexx died on May 11. He further claimed that, despite serving as the family representative who officially received the actor’s body from the mortuary, he was allegedly prevented from viewing the remains.
He maintained that these and other incidents have fueled growing unease among family members. The statement also raised objections to certain aspects of the funeral arrangements.
David alleged that some relatives disagreed with parts of the burial ceremony, especially the decision to wear white during sections of the funeral.
According to him, the family interpreted the choice of white attire as portraying the occasion as a celebration of life for someone who died at a relatively young age.
“The Ekubo family did not approve the wearing of white for what seemed to be a celebration of life for a 40-year-old Alex Ekubo whose life was suddenly cut short,” the statement alleged.
