President Bola Tinubu has named Patrick Obahiagbon as the new executive director, strategy and commercial, of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC).
The appointment was announced in a statement released on Friday evening, June 26, by Bayo Onanuga, the special adviser to President Tinubu on media and publicity.
Patrick Obahiagbon gets top appointment
Obahiagbon succeeds Engineer Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, who stepped down from his role as executive director, strategy and commercial, to pursue his political ambition in his home state.
A former member of both the Edo State House of Assembly and the National Assembly, Obahiagbon assumes the position with immediate effect. The 66-year-old is also a legal practitioner.
He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2007, where he represented Oredo before his appointment as chief of staff (CoS) to Adams Oshiomhole, then governor of Edo state, in 2011.
Obahiagbon became widely known for his eloquent speeches and rich vocabulary while commenting on political and social issues.
Tinubu gives appointment to Obi Adigwe
Meanwhile, in furtherance of his Renewed Hope agenda, President Tinubu has approved the creation of the National Health Technology and Data Analytics Office (NHTDAO).
The president also appointed Obi Adigwe as the pioneer national coordinator of NHTDAO. The newly established office will operate under the supervision of the office of the coordinating minister of health and social welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate.
Presidency sources credited Adigwe, in his capacity as director-general of the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD), with leveraging science to promote innovations in artificial intelligence, translational research, and technology transfer.
The presidency said:
“During the last pandemic, Adigwe globally showcased African science by undertaking the world’s first analysis to debunk claims about the Covid Organics preparation.”
Since Friday’s announcement of the appointments, congratulatory messages have continued to pour in for Messrs Obahiagbon and Adigwe.
