Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has taken to social media to share an age-old cultural practice she observed following her attendance at the burial of late actor Alexx Ekubo, sparking conversation among fans and followers.
The actress revealed that she burnt of the outfit she wore to the funeral ceremony, explaining that the decision was guided by advice from her Godmother, who strongly warned against keeping clothing worn to a burial in one’s possession.
According to Angela, her Godmother’s counsel was clear: such garments should be burned immediately after a burial and not kept around the home.
Taking the instruction seriously, the actress said she acted accordingly and used the moment as an opportunity to pass the same wisdom on to others.
Sharing the information with her followers, she wrote:
“This is the outfit I wore to Alex’s burial, my Godmother said is not good to have the cloth you wore to a burial around you, you burn them. So family and friends take note, I felt I should share this information. May the lord keep and bless us with long life amen. Chaii.”
