A chilling doorbell video has surfaced, appearing to show the son of James Handy’s girlfriend calmly escorting police to the front lawn where he allegedly fatally stabbed the veteran Hollywood actor.
Authorities said the alarming 911 call that triggered the emergency response was placed by 44-year-old Michael Gledhill, who reportedly lived with Handy and his mother at their Tarzana, California home.
“I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin,” Gledhill allegedly told dispatchers around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found Handy, 81, unconscious on the front yard of his Erwin Street residence with a stab wound to the chest.
From breaking news to viral moments. He was later transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Security footage obtained by Fox 11 Los Angeles reportedly shows Gledhill walking down the sidewalk in a composed manner, with bloodstained clothing discarded nearby.
Moments later, he is seen returning to the property and signaling officers, allegedly identifying himself as the suspect they were searching for.
Police subsequently arrested Gledhill on suspicion of murder. He is currently being held on a $2 million bond. The motive for the killing has not yet been determined, although neighbours reportedly said they heard arguments between Handy and Gledhill during the night.

One local resident told reporters they believed Gledhill may have been experiencing delusions prior to the incident.
Handy’s final credited screen appearance was in Cruise’s 2022 blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick, where he portrayed Jimmy the bartender.
The actor also appeared as Wilton Briggs in the 1991 horror-comedy Arachnophobia, Woolly in The Rocketeer (1992), the exterminator in Jumanji (1995), and a physician credited as “Old Doctor,” who treats Hugh Jackman’s Logan/Wolverine in the 2017 superhero film Logan.
