As family members and loved ones prepare to bid a final farewell to Alexx Ekubo, the late actor’s younger sister, Tressure Amarachukwu Ekubo, has opened up about the profound grief she continues to experience following his passing.
The Nollywood actor died on May 11, 2026, at the age of 40 after a battle with metastatic kidney cancer. His death sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, leaving colleagues, admirers, and fans mourning the loss of one of Nollywood’s familiar faces.
Funeral rites in his honour began with a service of songs on June 10. A wake-keep followed on June 17, while his final burial is being held today, June 18, 2026, in Arochukwu, Abia State, his hometown.
In an emotional tribute shared via her TikTok page, Tressure Ekubo posted a collection of photographs documenting cherished moments she shared with her late brother over the years.
Among the images was a touching throwback picture of Alexx carrying her as an infant, alongside several others capturing different stages of their lives together from childhood into adulthood.
Accompanying the photos was a heartfelt message in which she poured out her emotions and reflected on the painful void his absence has left behind.
According to Tressure, she had never spent an entire month without speaking to her brother, making the reality of his passing particularly difficult to process. She admitted that adjusting to life without him has been overwhelming and unfamiliar.
The message reads in part:
“To my bestfriend ❤️ Hi bobo…. It’s been a month… I’ve never gone a month without talking to you before in my life… I’m not okay at all… I miss you so much… everyday is a struggle bobo. I wake up hoping to see a text or a call. I really miss you bobo.. I don’t know what to do or who I am without you….”
She concluded the tribute by expressing her determination to keep his memory alive while appreciating him for always being a source of comfort and security in her life.
A few hours afterward, she shared a video compilation featuring memorable moments they spent together across different locations and special occasions.
The emotional posts quickly resonated with social media users, many of whom admitted they were moved to tears as the Ekubo family prepares to lay the actor to rest.
