Bishop David Abioye, the lead pastor of Conqueror Global Assembly, has spoken about his long-standing relationship with Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church.
Abioye, who spent several decades serving under Winners Chapel before retiring and launching his own ministry, shared details about how his connection with Oyedepo evolved over the years.
In a viral video, the cleric explained that he knew Oyedepo before he entered ministry. However, after receiving his divine calling, he said he had to put aside their former relationship and instead honour the grace and spiritual authority upon Oyedepo’s life.
According to Abioye, Oyedepo initially related with him as a brother before the ministry journey began, but things changed after the calling.
He added that he has never viewed himself as equal to Oyedepo and thanked God for giving him that understanding.
Speaking further, Abioye noted that he has always served those ahead of him with joy and never attempted to take their position. He stressed that people must recognise their limits, understand boundaries, and know that starting a ministry is a divine assignment.
The cleric also remarked during the interview with Pastor Yemi Davids that ministers should not chase to be at the same level as their spiritual leaders.
The video has since generated reactions online, with many praising Abioye’s humility and perspective. Others, however, questioned whether the interview took place before or after he established his own ministry.
Some social media users also linked his comments to principles from The 48 Laws of Power, particularly the idea that one should not outshine their master.
