An old video of Dr Abel Damina addressing a teaching associated with Apostle Arome Osayi has resurfaced online, attracting renewed attention on X on September 29, 2026.
The footage has re-emerged at a time when Arome Osayi is involved in a public disagreement with social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM), bringing an earlier theological disagreement between the two clergymen back into the spotlight.
Abel Damina Challenges Arome Osayi’s Teaching
The resurfaced clip focuses on a teaching by Apostle Arome Osayi concerning tithing and its place in eternity.
Arome, who heads the Remnant Christian Network, had explained that the principle of honour connected to the eternal priesthood of Melchizedek means believers would continue to give tithes even after leaving their earthly existence.
Damina challenged the idea by questioning how such a system would operate in heaven, particularly what form of employment or income would provide people with salaries from which they could give tithes.
Reacting to the teaching, the clergyman said:
“Stop all these your superstitions. Stop all this your character assassination of the scriptures. Stop all this abuse of the Bible. Let the people go. Let them serve God. Trust the Holy Ghost.”
Damina’s Position on Tithing
Damina has for years expressed his opposition to the idea that Christians are required to pay tithes under the New Covenant.
His teaching on the subject centres on the argument that mandatory tithing was part of the Old Testament system and does not impose the same obligation on Christians under the New Covenant.
He has also maintained that giving should be voluntary and guided by the Holy Spirit rather than motivated by fear or a sense of compulsory religious duty.
Arome Osayi’s View on Giving
Arome Osayi’s position differs, as his argument places emphasis on the principle of honour, which he regards as predating the Mosaic law.
His teaching connects this principle with the priesthood of Melchizedek and the continuing lordship of Christ, forming the theological basis for his view that the principle remains relevant beyond the earthly life.

The renewed circulation of Damina’s video comes amid VDM’s ongoing criticism of Arome Osayi.
The activist has challenged the cleric’s views about Nigeria’s future, particularly Arome’s emphasis on spiritual revival as part of the nation’s destiny rather than focusing primarily on technological advancement.
The disagreement has generated various reactions online, with supporters and critics weighing in on the contrasting positions.
