Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has stirred reactions online after sharing a lengthy birthday tribute to controversial social media personality Bobrisky.
The actress and evangelist celebrated Bobrisky with an emotional message in which she described the celebrant as her “brother” and “anchor”, while also praising him for being one of the most dependable people in her life.
Tonto accompanied the birthday message with a N2 million cheque, which she jokingly described as “breakfast money” for Bobrisky.
Tonto recalls Bobrisky’s loyalty
In her tribute, Tonto Dikeh reflected on a memorable period in their friendship, highlighting what she described as Bobrisky’s unwavering loyalty.
She recalled telling him that it was “time for war”, saying he did not hesitate or demand an explanation before showing his readiness to stand by her.
According to Tonto, Bobrisky simply responded:
“How far are we going to fight?”
The actress said such unquestioning support was extremely rare and something she considered impossible to replace.
Tribute draws attention to gender references
While the monetary gift and emotional message generated interest, many social media users focused on the way Tonto referred to Bobrisky throughout the birthday post.
The actress repeatedly used male pronouns and descriptions, including referring to Bobrisky as a “man”.
She also concluded her tribute with the statement: “This is BOB MY FRIEND IN WHOM I AM PLEASED.”
The wording attracted particular attention because Bobrisky has publicly identified as a woman, making Tonto’s choice of language a subject of discussion among her followers.
Some social media users interpreted the wording as a deliberate statement about Bobrisky’s gender, while others focused instead on the friendship between the two personalities and the birthday gesture.
Bobrisky, meanwhile, responded warmly to the tribute in the comment section.
