Yul Edochie has paid tribute to veteran Nollywood actor Olu Jacobs following his death, describing him as one of the greatest actors to emerge from the African continent.
The actor shared a photo of the late screen legend on Instagram alongside an emotional tribute in which he reflected on his relationship with Jacobs and the lessons he learnt from him.
Edochie said the news of Jacobs’ death “hit hard,” noting that he had tremendous respect, love and admiration for the veteran actor.
He described Jacobs as “A consummate thespian” and “The Legendary Sir Olu Jacobs,” while acknowledging the lasting legacy he left in the Nigerian film industry.
Edochie also recalled his experiences working alongside Jacobs on movie sets. According to him, Jacobs was always kind to him and offered encouraging words whenever they worked together.
He revealed that he would sometimes remain on set after completing his own scenes simply to watch Jacobs perform, using the opportunity to study his acting techniques.
“I learnt so much watching your movies. I learnt even more filming with you,” Edochie wrote.
The actor expressed gratitude for everything he learnt from Jacobs and prayed for the late actor to rest well.
He also extended his condolences to Jacobs’ family and others who loved him, asking God to give them the strength to cope with the loss.
Reacting to the post, commenters left several harsh remarks ranging from those who reminded him about his 1st wife, May’s birthday and others who slammed him.
