Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has shown her support for skit maker and actor Kamo State ahead of the cinema release of his first movie, Star Lomo.
The film is scheduled to hit cinemas across Nigeria on September 25, 2026.
Funke Akindele took to X on Tuesday, September 8, to congratulate Kamo State and the movie’s director, Kayode Kasum, while expressing her excitement about the project.
She wrote:
“Congrats Kamo and Kayode, this is so good.”
Star Lomo Faces Online Criticism
Funke Akindele’s endorsement comes at a time when Star Lomo has generated mixed reactions online.
Some social media users have questioned whether the movie deserves a nationwide cinema release, particularly following the release of its trailer.
One X user, Yhettyqueen, openly expressed her doubts after watching the trailer on Monday, September 7.
She wrote:
“So I’ll dress up, leave my house, order ride and pay my hard earned money to watch Star lomo??? Did Kamo think this through???”
What to Know About Star Lomo
Kamo State, whose real name is Akinyoola Ayoola, takes on multiple roles in the project as both an actor and producer.
The movie was directed by Kayode Kasum and brings together a combination of established actors and emerging talents.
The cast includes Mike Afolarin, KieKie, Lateef Adedimeji and Folake Babatunde.
Former Big Brother Naija housemate Koyin Sanusi is also part of the project, with the movie marking her acting debut.
Kamo State Appreciates Funke Akindele
Following Funke Akindele’s public show of support, Kamo State responded with appreciation for the veteran filmmaker.
Expressing his gratitude, he wrote:
