Grief overwhelmed Nollywood actor Yinka Quadri on Monday, August 31, as he stepped forward to honour his late friend and colleague, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, during the veteran actor’s 8-day Fidau prayer in Ilaro, Ogun State.
Quadri, who shared a close relationship with Ogogo, took the podium to deliver a message of comfort to the family and loved ones of the late actor.
During his speech, he encouraged those grieving to rely on God for strength rather than looking to other people during the difficult period.
Yinka Quadri’s Emotional Moment
However, Quadri’s tribute soon became emotional as he struggled to hold back his tears while speaking.
His voice became shaky during the speech, showing how deeply the loss of his longtime friend had affected him.
Colleagues and fellow actors at the ceremony quickly moved towards him to offer support as he struggled to continue with his remarks.
Unable to complete his speech, Quadri was gently led away from the podium by those around him. The emotional scene became one of the most touching moments of the ceremony and left many people present visibly moved.
The Fidau prayer, a traditional Muslim ceremony held following a person’s burial, attracted several notable figures from the Yoruba Nollywood community.
Among those who attended the gathering in Ilaro to honour the late actor were popular stars Odunlade Adekola and Jide Kosoko.
Ogogo’s Legacy
Ogogo, regarded as one of the most cherished figures in Yoruba cinema, passed away recently, leaving behind a major gap in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
His long-standing friendship with Yinka Quadri was well known to fans and fellow actors, making Quadri’s emotional reaction during the Fidau ceremony particularly touching.
