A lawyer has shared a rare video showing the reaction of some legal practitioners after controversial social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) was announced as one of the guest speakers at the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
In the video shared online, several lawyers could be seen leaving the hall shortly after the announcement was made.
The lawyer who posted the footage captioned it, “Lawyers leaving the hall as soon as it was announced that VDM is one of the guest speakers.”
The moment appeared to suggest that some of the attendees were unhappy or surprised by the decision to invite the activist to the event.
However, the lawyer offered a different perspective after VDM eventually delivered his presentation.
She noted that despite the initial reaction from some of the lawyers, his presentation actually made sense.
“But his presentation actually made sense,” she wrote.
Reflecting on the incident, she added that the situation was a perfect example of the saying, “Don’t judge a book by its cover.”
According to her, people should not make assumptions about what someone has to offer simply based on their appearance, background or public image.
The video has sparked reactions online, with the contrasting moments drawing attention to VDM’s appearance at the legal gathering.
