Nollywood stars Anita Joseph, Nkechi Blessing Sunday and several other celebrities have reacted with shock after an unexpected birthday poster of actress Funke Akindele surfaced online.
The poster, shared on Instagram by CinemaPointer on Sunday, August 24, which was the actress’ birthday, featured a picture of the filmmaker dressed in white against a dramatic background of clouds and flying doves.
However, what immediately caught the attention of social media users was the wording and design of the graphic. Rather than looking like a conventional birthday celebration, the poster was designed in the style of a memorial tribute.
It carried the inscription, “In loving celebration of Olufunke Ayotunde Akindele,” alongside “Born August 24,” before describing her as a “true Nollywood icon” and wishing her a “Happy Birthday, Queen!”
The unusual presentation quickly triggered reactions in the comment section, with several celebrities questioning the intention behind the graphic.
Actress Anita Joseph simply asked, “Why?” while Nkechi Blessing Sunday questioned the type of graphic used, writing, “What kind of graphics is this?”
Actress Biodun Stephen also expressed her displeasure, describing it as the wrong kind of poster.
Actress Kemity who wasn’t having it urged CinemaPointer to delete the post, while others said the design gave them a scare.
The reactions showed how strongly the memorial-style design surprised viewers, despite the post ultimately being intended as a birthday celebration for the actress.
The unusual poster has since generated significant discussion among fans and celebrities online.
