Popular content creator Jarvis has addressed the growing speculation surrounding her religious identity after an old video surfaced online.
The video sparked claims that she had converted to Islam ahead of her anticipated marriage to fellow social media personality Peller.
The footage, which recently made the rounds across social media platforms, featured Jarvis and Peller visiting the Lagos Central Mosque. Its resurfacing quickly generated widespread conversations among internet users.
Following the circulation of the video, several social media users alleged that the moment showed Jarvis accepting Islam as her new faith before getting married to her fiancé.
Jarvis addresses rumours
Jarvis has now responded to the speculation through her Instagram Story, making it clear that the video was not recent. She further explained that both she and Peller are Christians, although they each have Muslim backgrounds.
She urged the public not to view their visit to the mosque as evidence that either of them had changed their religion.
She wrote: “To my Muslim brothers and sisters, much love and respect to you all. Quick info!! About the old video circulating. My husband and I are Christian and we both have Muslim background.”
While clarifying their religious status, Jarvis maintained that her regard for Islam has not diminished despite her decision to practise Christianity.
She went on to emphasise that she and Peller hold people of different faiths in high regard.
“We also respect and love our Muslim brothers and sisters. We are ONE,” she stated.
Her statement followed the renewed circulation of the old clip, with some social media users alleging that Peller had taken his fiancée to the Lagos Central Mosque for her to recite the Shahadah.
