Popular comedian and filmmaker Ayo Makun, widely known as AY, has stirred fresh reactions across social media after posting a cryptic message about his life as a single man.
Taking to Instagram, the entertainer shared a video showing himself watching and admiring women cheering during the World Cup.
In the accompanying caption, he playfully referenced his relationship status, stressing that being single was not a crime.
“Na single we single, we no kill person,” he wrote. AY also disclosed that he would be travelling to Cape Verde for a Cabo vacation, a revelation that further sparked conversations about his current lifestyle.
The latest development follows AY’s confirmation in April 2023 that his marriage to Mabel, which lasted for almost two decades, had come to an end.
Following the separation, the comedian acknowledged making several compromises throughout the marriage and spoke candidly about the pain of losing his home.
He also cautioned against the circulation of misleading stories that could negatively affect his teenage daughter.
Mabel later addressed the situation publicly for the first time, revealing that her hope of spending a lifetime in marriage had taken an unexpected path.
She appealed for privacy, explaining that numerous false claims had been made about her, while adding that she would remain silent out of respect for her children.
In the months that followed, AY consistently dismissed claims that he and Mabel had reunited, describing the reports as “false, incessant and insensitive.” He also warned that legal action could be taken against individuals responsible for spreading such rumours.
The comedian has equally attracted attention over remarks he made about the wives of his brothers. During birthday tributes, he commended their faithfulness and commitment, comments that many Nigerians viewed as indirect references to his former wife.
Amid the public attention surrounding his personal life, AY has continued to mark important family occasions.
One of such moments was the celebration of his younger brother Yomi Casual’s 40th birthday, during which he admitted he could not claim to be the perfect example of sustaining a home but expressed how proud he was of Yomi’s accomplishments.
