Political analyst and writer Obiasogu David has expressed reservations about certain details he observed in a recently circulated video showing the rescue of the schoolchildren and teachers who were abducted in Oyo State.
The viral footage captured security operatives helping the rescued pupils into a vehicle, while the female principal was seen seated in the front.
Visibly emotional, she appeared overwhelmed, a reaction many would consider understandable after spending 56 days in captivity.
Responding to the video, Obiasogu David highlighted several aspects of the scene that, in his view, raised questions and sparked his curiosity about the circumstances surrounding the rescue.
One of the issues he pointed to was why the female principal’s first concern, after being rescued from such a traumatic and life-threatening ordeal, appeared to be about her car.
In the video, the principal can be heard anxiously asking security personnel about her vehicle, and she was assured that it would be recovered.
He also questioned why the security operatives were able to confidently assure her that the car would be recovered.
According to him, the certainty of their response made him wonder whether she had already been promised a vehicle as some form of compensation for the ordeal she endured.
Obiasogu argued that since the security operatives were not present at the scene when the kidnapping occurred, they would not ordinarily know the whereabouts of the vehicle if she had driven it to school on the day of the abduction.
In an X post on July 13th, 2026, he wrote:
“I just saw this VIDEO of the Oyo school children and head teacher being moved out after they were rescued.
A few things I saw in the video made me curious and agitated. First, the head teacher asked the soldiers about her car.
She and the kids had just been freed from the daredevil kidnappers. How convenient was it for her to think first about her car, immediately after she was released?
Considering but not conceding that she had a car and went to school with it on the day she was kidnapped, the soldiers were not at the scene at the time of the kidnapping. Why then is she asking for her car from the soldiers?
Again, the soldiers responded to her with strong assurance that she’d get her car. Considering the soldiers’ response, I want to ask, was she promised a car? If yes, for what reason? Is it as compensation for the tortious ordeal or what?
Second, I cringed at what one of the soldiers told the school children in the video. He said, “Thank the GCO.” These are pupils who had just been rescued from the torment of kidnappers.
Yet, they are being ordered to “thank” the so-called GCO. Shouldn’t it be the other way round – the government should be pleading with the kids for its negligence and slow response to their kidnapping – that it allowed them to suffer for so long in the kidnappers’ den!
This is sad and shameful!✍️.”

@Oluwaecan commented: “The car was used for the hijack are you people allergic to something good from the government. A school principal in OYO considering that car could be years of work, savings and sweat shouldn’t ask for her car? However you edited the part where she did ask about her husband.”
@Fosas69 wrote: “This your observation is absurd & senseless, this shows some of you are reverting the kidnap & the dehumanization of these woman & the little children political banter jokes for you idiots to sell your foolish political ideology. She asked for her husband before her car. Stop it.”
