Nollywood icon Pete Edochie has appeared in a recent video reflecting on his memories with the late Nollywood actor, Alexx Ekubo, who was recently laid to rest during his burial ceremony.
The Nigerian movie star was finally buried on June 18, 2026, in an emotional ceremony attended by friends, colleagues, well-wishers, and relatives who gathered to pay their final respects.
Alexx Ekubo’s kindness and generosity while he was alive appeared to have left a lasting impression on the lives of many people.
In the video, Pete Edochie recalled the different occasions on which he met Alexx Ekubo during his lifetime. The veteran actor revealed that during their first meeting, Alexx visited him at his hotel, arriving with a cow, other gifts, and an Igbo cultural band to invite him to the premiere of a movie he had produced.
Speaking about their second meeting, Pete Edochie said the late actor visited him at another hotel. This time, he came with his siblings to pay him a courtesy visit and brought along delicious meals.
Recalling their third meeting, Pete Edochie said Alexx Ekubo presented him with fruits, kolanuts, and a cash gift of N100,000 before asking him to pray for him.
After sharing these experiences, Pete Edochie expressed his appreciation to IK Ogbonna, a Nollywood actor and one of Alexx Ekubo’s closest friends, for his contributions toward ensuring the late actor received a befitting burial.
He said: “I want to specifically thank IK Ogbonna, he proved himself both in live and in death. I want to use this occasion too to console the family of Alexx Ekubo. Alexx came, he saw, and he left an indelible.”
Furthermore, Pete Edochie disclosed that, before his untimely passing, Alexx Ekubo had made elaborate plans to celebrate his upcoming 80th birthday, plans that will now never come to fruition.
“I was told he was planning big for my 80th birthday which would be next year, he is gone now.”
