The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election, announcing the results in the early hours of Sunday, June 21, in Ado-Ekiti.
Oyebanji polled a commanding total of 319,224 votes, comfortably defeating his two closest challengers.
Wole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came second with 40,543 votes, while Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) garnered 12,872 votes.
The incumbent governor’s dominance was evident across all 16 local government areas of the state, where he swept both urban and rural voting blocs with remarkable consistency.
His strongest performances were recorded in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti West, Irepodun/Ifelodun, Ikole and Ekiti East, according to Premium Times.

In Ado Ekiti, the state capital and largest voting centre, Oyebanji secured 38,026 votes against the PDP’s 3,817.
In Ekiti West, he pulled 28,258 votes compared to the PDP’s 3,644, while Irepodun/Ifelodun returned 29,278 votes for the APC candidate.
Ikole equally delivered a strong 26,508 votes for the ruling party, leaving opposition candidates with little ground to stand on across the state.
The result represents a resounding endorsement of Oyebanji’s first term in office by Ekiti voters.
