Nigerian comedian and filmmaker Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has released an emotional video said to have been recorded by late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo before his passing.
The heartfelt clip emerged barely 24 hours after the actor was laid to rest in his hometown during a burial ceremony attended by relatives, close friends, colleagues, and numerous sympathisers.
Alexx’s farewell was filled with emotion as mourners paid tribute to the beloved actor, whose death sent shockwaves across the entertainment industry.
Tears flowed freely as prominent figures from the movie and entertainment scene gathered to honour his memory and celebrate his life.
Those who attended the burial included IK Ogbonna, Mike Godson, Omoni Oboli, Ini Edo, KCee, E-Money, Cubana Chief Priest, Bimbo Ademoye, Kunle Remi and his wife, Nancy Isime, Funny Bone, Pretty Mike, Yomi Casual, and AY himself.
Sharing the video on social media, AY explained that his reason for posting it was not to seek sympathy but to inspire anyone quietly battling personal struggles.
The comedian pointed out that countless people carry hidden burdens that remain unseen by others, making Alexx’s message particularly meaningful.
He stressed that life often brings periods of hardship, isolation, and uncertainty, yet people should never abandon hope regardless of the challenges before them.
“Today, I want to share one of the messages he recorded before his passing… not for sympathy, but for reflection.”
AY also emphasised that where there is life, there remains hope for a brighter future. He encouraged his followers to view the video as more than just another post on social media, describing it as a profound reminder from someone who wished to encourage others to keep pressing on despite the difficulties life may present.
