Singer and known supporter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dauda Kahutu Rarara, has strongly criticised Afrobeats star Davido over his decision to draw global attention to the recent kidnapping incident in Oyo State during his 2026 FIFA World Cup-related performance.
Recall that Davido, while performing at a FIFA event ahead of the tournament, wore a customised jacket featuring the names of the abducted schoolchildren as a call for urgent attention and a message to the Federal Government, urging their immediate rescue.
The gesture quickly became a major talking point on social media, sparking widespread reactions from netizens, with some praising it as a bold advocacy move while others criticised it for different reasons.
In a recent development, APC singer Dauda Kahutu Rarara became the latest public figure to condemn Davido’s action, arguing that his decision to highlight the issue amounted to exposing Nigeria’s insecurity challenges on a global stage.
He further made allegations and derogatory remarks about the Afrobeats star, describing the artist as a terrorist over the gesture displayed during the World Cup performance.
According to him, Davido’s action was politically motivated rather than being driven by genuine concern for the victims of the kidnapping incident.
Rarara also added that Davido’s move to spotlight the abduction case in Oyo State reflected a lack of patriotism and, in his view, caused harm to Nigeria’s international image.
