A social media user identified as @_raesparkles has sparked massive discussion on X (formerly Twitter) after sharing how a Lagos clinic turned down her friend’s job application — but not in the way many would expect.
According to the post shared on June 16, her friend, Linda Omotayo Aisida, a Physiology graduate from the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), who completed her degree on November 12, 2024, applied for a position at the clinic, only to receive a surprising response.
Rather than a standard rejection, the clinic’s reply via WhatsApp read:
“Hey Linda. First class hons? There is somthing better for you. Please dont lower your standard. All the best.”
The message, shared alongside the original post by @_raesparkles, who wrote “My friend wanted to come work in Lagos so she applied to a clinic and she got this response,” quickly went viral, drawing a flood of reactions from Nigerians online.

Opinions were sharply divided. While some applauded the clinic for its encouraging and unusually warm rejection, others argued that the response was presumptuous and that Linda deserved the opportunity to decide what was right for her own career.
The post has since continued to trend, reigniting broader conversations about graduate employment and opportunities in Nigeria.
